Sonic Producer Review Making Dreams Happen

I suppose I could give you all the usual talk about the professional sound and user friendly interface that the manufactures love to ramble about in their "reviews", but I know you can get that from them. What I can tell you about is how these pedals sound to me, and how easy (or hard) they are to use, and how well they are constructed, from a guitarists viewpoint.

The Lenco iPod Tower Latest Review

One of the greatest things about the age of wireless Internet is the recent democratization of the world of music. It used to be that in order to discover new music, the average person had to listen to the radio or, eventually, watch music channels like MTV. This used to be a more enjoyable experience, as radio stations were individually owned and DJs were generally obsessed music fans who had a large degree of control over what new music to play. These days, however, the vast majority of radio stations are owned by multinational media conglomerates, and playlists are almost without fail predetermined in corporate offices and broadcast around the country without alteration. There are even some radio stations, such as the ubiquitous JACKFM, that have scrapped the DJ format all together, instead pre-programming playlists and broadcasting them across the country. And music television stations were universalists from the get-go: there was never an amazing about of consumer or individual control over what got played on the video channels.

passport-gender-neutral.jpg

In an interesting turn of events, it's been announced that new passports will identify parental units in a "gender neutral" way. Now, guardians will be classified as either Parent 1 or Parent 2, instead of mother or father.

Now, this might seem rather silly to you, but the change is actually a positive step forward in recognizing children and parents in different families, like ones with two mommies or two daddies.

Fred Sainz, vice president of the Human Rights Campaign, called the news "a positive step forward for all American families. It was time that the federal government acknowledged the reality that hundreds of thousands of kids in this country are being raised by same-sex parents."

We totally agree! Yeah for more equality for all!

Last night David and I had a date with our good friend Josh for a long-overdue catch-up session. David and I haven’t been able to hang out with Josh for some time now so it was really great getting to spend some quality time with him. We went out for drinks and snacks at St. Felix in West Hollywood and had the best time ever.

The weather is, thankfully, warming up here in SoCal so we were able to sit outside last night. Things are going well for Josh and we got an earful of the exciting plans he has in store for his new skin care line. We had a blast.

Tonight, David and I have been invited to a dinner party with friends to celebrate our BFFs Emma and Josh’s recent engagement. But, before we head out for that, I have a nice afternoon planned of reading a debut novel of one my good friends. I can’t WAIT to share news of her new book with all y’all. Happy Saturday, make it a great one!!

Music Our Steady Life Companion

Learning how to play the piano has a lot of benefits. Some people want to learn how to play the piano as a hobby or a way to pass their time. Some people just want to learn a new way to express themselves through music. Others have to learn how to play the piano because of their careers. These people are either song writers who want to enhance their skill or piano players in bands who play in concerts or the church choir.

Taking piano lessons requires commitment. You need to practice regularly in order to progress. Otherwise, every time you return to the piano, you waste time relearning techniques you should have already mastered. If you own an iPad, you can use basic skills to record and share your music - and as you improve your mastery, evidence of your progress can quickly and easily be captured on the iPad.

What an awful message you're sending to the youths!

Kodak, a supposedly family friendly company, has pulled its ads from airing during Teen Nick's popular series, DeGrassi: The Next Generation.

Apparently, the company has been receiving a slew of emails from the Florida Family Association for supporting a show that “targets teens with gay propaganda and other immoral behavior.”

For those of you who are not familiar with the show, this season there are not only gay teen characters, but a transgender one as well. We assume this is the kind of "immoral behavior" this group is referring to and we're ashamed to say that this kind ignorance led Kodak to pull their promotion of the show.

What an absolute shame. Here's a show, trying to reach out to a group of teens who've probably never felt like they've had a role model before, on a network that promotes itself as being kid-friendly, and Kodak now is saying that it's wrong to support that.

What's wrong is making anyone feel less worthy of respect and consideration because of their sexuality or race or creed or anything!

A major company publicly siding with homophobia. How sad.

Royalty Free Music Library Stores

There are times when you need to have tracks that will complete a certain project you might be working on. Getting the license to use some of the songs that have been produced is usually a very expensive affair, which can make you not use the song you want to be used on the project. One can also get restrictions on how to use the songs, which can be very frustrating and might even slow you down. When faced with such a situation, you need to look for places that will offer you the tracks that can be used without a problem.

The usually testy actor Gerard Butler was especially testy in Miami, FL yesterday when he decided to go all crazypants on a paparazzi photographer who was taking photos at the Art Basel Miami event at the Miami Convention Center yesterday afternoon … take a look:

Thankfully Gerard did NOT take a page from the Russell Crowe playbook (who got himself into a bit of trouble a few years ago when he went all Naomi Campbell on a poor unsuspecting hotel concierge when he assaulted him with a telephone). As you can see, Gerard had a phone handy and managed to refrain from hurling the device at the offending photog. Good Gerry, good boy. Still … Mr. Butler may want to get that temper in check a bit better … he doesn’t really want to join the Naomi Campbell/Russell Crowe Phone Club, now does he?

New Age music and song is finding its way into our hearts and minds as we get ever closer to a better understanding of the genre and its intention to imbue the listener with peace, tranquility and relaxation. Some define this genre of music and song as spiritual and it is often used for meditation and in yoga and during massage therapy. In most instances, it is used to help combat stress and anxiety creating a more peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in homes and sometimes, in offices. Did Taylor Lautner Help Aziz Ansari Rob A Bank?

FROM HOLLYWOOD CRUSH: Taylor Lautner is in "30 Minutes or Less." Or at least that's what Aziz Ansari wants you to think.

Obviously the MTV Movie Awards isn't your average awards show. I don't think I need to get into the list of reasons why, aside from bringing up my favorite nominations category: Best Jaw Dropping Moment. In addition to our categories setting us apart from the envelope-opening pack, the overall stage design for the show is always an edgy, eye-catching departure from the glitzy, golden themes in shows like the Oscars or Golden Globes.

MTV News' Josh Horowitz was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the set design and man, is it a doozy. The Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, has been transformed into a wild, jungle-ish fantasyland filled with psychedelic props like caves, butterflies and enough LED lights to make Times Square sizzle.

Executive Producer Mark Burnett told MTV News that the inspiration for the design is "a little bit of a 'Lord of the Rings,' our nod to that part of the movie industry. ... And our production designer, Roy, [this is] his nod to fantasy in the movies."

Burnett went on to say that given the popularity of fantastical blockbusters like "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," "I think there's been a lot of movies in the last few years that are very fantasy-driven," he said, adding that the visionary stylings of Tim Burton's were also sources of inspiration for the stage design.

There are, of course, a variety of ways to interpret the lushness of the design elements. "It could be 4 a.m., you've had too much to drink [and] it's the end of the party," Burnett playfully suggested.
